Summer Fun

I have not yet mastered photo placement in this blog thing yet, but here are a smattering of pictures from this summer. A bit of Lily's mini-birthday party, random stuff and playing in the "interactive" fountain at Spokane. Sure wish I could figure out how to place text next to the picture I want to write about. One is of a dinosaur mountain "playset" as the girls like to say. There is one that shows you what Dessa does to disobedient toys (the stuffed cat). Note Dessa playing the keyboard with a plastic hamburger patty. See if you can see which picture has a smile pasted over a frowner.

Prayers

Here is a compilation of a couple of Lily's prayers lately:
“Heavenly Father, would you please thank you for our Lord. What kind of fruit was it Adam and Eve ate? Please make a big heaven that’s like a hotel with floors so the ants can’t get us. Please make the volcano (Mt. Vesuvius in Pompeii) get up and walk away because I know it doesn’t like people. Please make it stay in it’s crack and make all the people get not dead because I don’t like that. Amen.”

Some funnies

Just now as the girls are cleaning their room, I heard Ella singing. I recognized the tune as being "Christ the Lord is Risen Today" but she was singing the whole tune to the repeated word "bowel."

This morning as the girls were playing, I overheard Lily saying, "I'm not dead, my legs just got cut off." I never expected that sort of thing with girls.

The girls have been becoming more involved in praying with us, but sometimes I'm at a loss for how help them. Times like when Lily says, "I'm going to pray that God would send us a fairy. Or three fairies!"

One good thing that comes from the girls being interested in fairytales is that it helps them have a better understanding of God's work in some ways. The other day Ella was excited to tell me about a flower blooming and she said, "God made this flower bloom, it's magic!" I was able to reply, "Yes, Ella. It's God's magic!" I love that fairy magic and God's magic aren't so very different after all. What an amazing world we live in!

When Mom's stressed out

A few days ago, I was exhausted (as usual) and crabby. I plopped down in a chair and said, "girls, Mom's stressed out!" Ella immediately said, "Maybe we could help you. I can make lunch! I'll make peanut butter and jelly. (Lily says "I want tuna.") Ella: I can't make tuna fish, but I can make peanut better and jelly!"
So I let her! Lily decided to help, too. All I did was open the jars. I did have to scoop about a third of a cup of jelly off Lily's sandwich and put it back, leaving her with only 1/4 cup on her bread. It definitely perked me up.

Even more pictures!

For some reason Dessa would lift her leg every time Grandma gave her a sip.

Ella has just baked some playdough cookies in her play oven. She's quite proud.

When dinosaurs ruled the yard.

This is the picture of Lily's dinosaur I promised. Her name is Purdy, not Alice. Alice is a REAL imaginary dinosaur Lily has created. She lives in the zoo.

We took our middle seat out of the van and the only place to store it is in the family room. But the girls made good use of it.

Lily said she wanted to be warm and cozy.

I have new pictures posted on each of the following two posts, so check them out as well!

More pictures

This first picture is a tea party at our house.

Next, we have a photo of our recent morning routine. Bob lets the girls hang out on the counter while he fixes his breakfast.

Must have needed some Daddy time.

Bob refinished a bookshelf. We had it standing sideways for a minute while we decided where to put it. The girls knew just what to do.

I love how Dessa snuggles her bear.

The girls are more eager for photo ops if they get to be silly.

Pictures

Here are a smattering of pictures from the last couple of months.

A few of Dessa. Notice the piggy tails while she brushes her teeth.

The kids on the couch are mine and my brother's kids, the car seat picture is from our drive to Grandma's house.

Grandma threw the girls a high-class tea party with wrapped gifts and chocolate mousse!

The funny one of Ella is when we were all trying to get Dessa to make faces.
