Slew of pictures

So, the first picture is the girls hugging Grandpa as they were leaving last time they came. I had to put in this picture of Lily looking so beautiful and girly with her purse and stroller, even though it's a dog in the stroller. Then we have the girls' trick-or-treating costumes. Lily is a "cute little baby triceratops." Dessa has been wearing that dress ever since.

A little shot of our first snow. It lasted long enough to get snow suits on and that's about it. The next picture is the birthday card Lily made Bob. She handed it to me on his birthday and said, "Can we put it in the mailbox so the mailman can take it to Daddy?" I said, "It doesn't have an envelope or address, the mailman won't know where to take it." Lily said, "It says, 'Dad, Secretary!" Apparently, the mailman should know from that bit of info.

Here's our tree and a funny pose from Odessa, set off by the shiny star. Have a Merry Christmas! I'm sure I won't post again until after!

One tooth down!

Well, I'm trying a different way to put pictures on here in an attempt to make the words line up with the pics better. So far, not much better. Oh well. The first three are of our little play vacation. We dropped Bob off at the airport yesterday morning and the girls were a little sad they didn't get to go. So in the afternoon, we played vacation. I set up a table for their dinner and was their waitress, giving them a menu and calling them "miss" and they called me "ma'am." Then after dinner they checked into their "hotel room" which is our guest room with a new futon. I let them borrow some old keys and packed their jammies in their backpacks. After they checked in, we went to a show (a Russian dance and choir video I picked up at the library) then all three went to bed in the futon. They did fairly well at being quiet and staying in bed, but I did have to take Dessa out in the middle of the night. I can't imagine how Lily and Ella slept with her in the middle--I took her into my bed and was kicked and head-butted all night. Anyhow, we had lots of fun.

Here is a cute picture of Dess and Ella in thier jammies. The next photo is of Daddy, Grandma Bunky and the girls doing the bacon dance.

Here is Lily with her first lost tooth, which is in the baggy she's holding. Second picture is Dessa "helping" which you can imagine is more delightful than it is helpful.

These two are from the last hot weekend we spent outside. We always seem to discover really great places to play right at the end of summer. What a fun spot this is! Growing up in Montana, I always figured lovely beach sand was only found on the coast, but we have it here in Wenatchee! Someone needs to figure out how to make lightweight sand insoles because I felt no pain from my broken bone in my foot when we were on the sand. (Didn't know it was broken at the time).

Miniatures

Bob has been planning to build me a secretary desk/shelving unit for my crafty stuff. To try to work out some of the bugs ahead of time, he has been making scaled-down models of the stuff he wants to build. Here are some examples, one of the secretary (with accessories) and then a miniature of a planned device we may need to make use of as the girls near the end of their teenage years (modeled by Prince Phillip and that prince from Cinderella who has no name). Actually, both princes were broken and Bob was gluing them.

:)

Not too much going on

Just a couple of pictures to post. I do have to post a bit of Dessa-speak. We've figured out that Ella is pronounced "uh" and Lily is "Yee." For example, Ella and Dess were playing on the couch and after Ella got down Dess said, "Uuh. Weh ah yoo? Wayz uh me!" (Ella, where are you, wait for me!)

Summer Fun

I have not yet mastered photo placement in this blog thing yet, but here are a smattering of pictures from this summer. A bit of Lily's mini-birthday party, random stuff and playing in the "interactive" fountain at Spokane. Sure wish I could figure out how to place text next to the picture I want to write about. One is of a dinosaur mountain "playset" as the girls like to say. There is one that shows you what Dessa does to disobedient toys (the stuffed cat). Note Dessa playing the keyboard with a plastic hamburger patty. See if you can see which picture has a smile pasted over a frowner.

Prayers

Here is a compilation of a couple of Lily's prayers lately:
“Heavenly Father, would you please thank you for our Lord. What kind of fruit was it Adam and Eve ate? Please make a big heaven that’s like a hotel with floors so the ants can’t get us. Please make the volcano (Mt. Vesuvius in Pompeii) get up and walk away because I know it doesn’t like people. Please make it stay in it’s crack and make all the people get not dead because I don’t like that. Amen.”

Some funnies

Just now as the girls are cleaning their room, I heard Ella singing. I recognized the tune as being "Christ the Lord is Risen Today" but she was singing the whole tune to the repeated word "bowel."

This morning as the girls were playing, I overheard Lily saying, "I'm not dead, my legs just got cut off." I never expected that sort of thing with girls.

The girls have been becoming more involved in praying with us, but sometimes I'm at a loss for how help them. Times like when Lily says, "I'm going to pray that God would send us a fairy. Or three fairies!"

One good thing that comes from the girls being interested in fairytales is that it helps them have a better understanding of God's work in some ways. The other day Ella was excited to tell me about a flower blooming and she said, "God made this flower bloom, it's magic!" I was able to reply, "Yes, Ella. It's God's magic!" I love that fairy magic and God's magic aren't so very different after all. What an amazing world we live in!
