Even more pictures!

For some reason Dessa would lift her leg every time Grandma gave her a sip.

Ella has just baked some playdough cookies in her play oven. She's quite proud.

When dinosaurs ruled the yard.

This is the picture of Lily's dinosaur I promised. Her name is Purdy, not Alice. Alice is a REAL imaginary dinosaur Lily has created. She lives in the zoo.

We took our middle seat out of the van and the only place to store it is in the family room. But the girls made good use of it.

Lily said she wanted to be warm and cozy.

I have new pictures posted on each of the following two posts, so check them out as well!

More pictures

This first picture is a tea party at our house.

Next, we have a photo of our recent morning routine. Bob lets the girls hang out on the counter while he fixes his breakfast.

Must have needed some Daddy time.

Bob refinished a bookshelf. We had it standing sideways for a minute while we decided where to put it. The girls knew just what to do.

I love how Dessa snuggles her bear.

The girls are more eager for photo ops if they get to be silly.

Pictures

Here are a smattering of pictures from the last couple of months.

A few of Dessa. Notice the piggy tails while she brushes her teeth.

The kids on the couch are mine and my brother's kids, the car seat picture is from our drive to Grandma's house.

Grandma threw the girls a high-class tea party with wrapped gifts and chocolate mousse!

The funny one of Ella is when we were all trying to get Dessa to make faces.

Girls will be girls

So we went on a dinosaur hunt today. The girls have been fascinated with dinos for a while now, and I have been mentally compiling a list of things they have done while playing with dinosaurs. The girls' friend Trenton will be pleased to know that the dinos he let them borrow participated in a tea party while he was away. I bet none of his friends' dinos have done that!
Lily prefers meat-eaters, but only the nice meat-eaters that eat the "bad" meat-eaters.
Ella is a strict plant-eater only kind of girl. As long as they don't look scary.
Lily brought one of her new dinos up to me today and handed me a red ribbon, saying, "Will you please put this on Alice's neck? She's a girl so the bow should be in front." I have a picture of that I will post some day.
They took their dinos outside to play today. Lily climbed the tree and hung hers from the branches. Ella got some wood scraps and built a house for them.
The majority of the time, the dinosaurs congregate on the top of a bookshelf in our living room in sweet fellowship with all the girls' ponies, kitties, puppies and horses. Kind of like the lion and the lamb in Isaiah. They don't seem to see the humor in telling them, "Oh, those ponies will be great snacks for the T-Rex!"
Dad gets in on all the fun, too. He's given them his own names (which Lily looks at me very seriously and tells me, "He's not a potato-chip-a-saurus.") One time the T-rex ate a bunch of the dinos Lily wasn't playing with. When Lily realized what Dad had done, she quickly grabbed them and said, "then they all came alive and flew out of his tummy!"
She also said that she is going to find her real pet dinosaur in heaven.

Lily on fairytales

We discuss how we would respond to situations in movies frequently. Just this monrning, we were discussing Sleeping Beauty. Lily decided she would push Malificent (sp?) down, then when she became a dragon, she'd step on it. But my favorite is this: "Get out of the way, Prince Philip! I'm going to kill the dragon!" Ella played the perfect princess and just sat and watched.

the Honorable position of Motherhood

There are moments of being a mother which shine out above all others because of the awe and wonder in an adoring child's heart as they consider their mother. I believe I had one of these this evening:

Lily: "Mom, how does ice cream help you?"

Mom: "It helps you to get bigger buns."

Lily: (after thinking and checking) "I don't think it's working on me!"

Ella: "But it's working on Mom!"

I know, I set myself up for these moments of glory.
There was actually a lengthy conversation afterward because, of course, the kids took me a little too seriously. The cost of a joke.

Ella's Leg

So, I took Ella in yesterday and got her splint taken off and replaced with a pretty pink cast. Thought you'd like to see some pictures of that and other things.

I want to stick a picture of Dessa in Ella's bed. She likes to climb up in it and pretend she's Ella, I think. She lays down and plays with the toys and drinks Ella's water.
Also, here is a picture of the dress Grandma Bunky got Dessa for Christmas. Red hair always goes pretty with emerald green, though you can't really see Dessa's hair in this picture. I downsized all these pictures, so clicking on them will give you a better view.
I put in here a picture of a card I made using cupcake liners. Kind of fun! Sorry this is such a random mess.
